Information System

Information Security means protecting information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

The cornerstone of information security is confidentiality.

So what is confidentiality. A statement found in `Good Medical Practice‘ issued by the General Medical Council in Britain summarised it very well.

It says,

“Patients have a right to expect that you will not pass on any personal information which you learn in the course of your professional duties, unless they agree.”

That is no one should access or disclose any patient’s information without patients permission whether knowingly or unknowingly.
